FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What is it?
We are a high ropes course. We offer five courses with different levels of difficulty, two beginner, two intermediate and one expert course. Because the courses are linear, in order to get to the zip lines you must do the obstacles. We do not have any stand alone zip lines.
What are your hours?
Please go to ‘Book Now’, where you can see our upcoming Operating Schedule as well as available time slots.
Who can climb?
No experience or particular skill is required, just a willingness to have fun.
The minimum age to climb is 7. More importantly than age, climbers need to be able to reach their hand over their head to a height of 62 inches regardless of age. Climbers 7 to 9 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Do I need to be fit?
You do need a degree of physical fitness but it’s probably easier than you might think. It might reassure you to know that it is very rare for a person to stop climbing because they weren’t fit enough.
I’m afraid of heights…..
The courses are designed to help you build your confidence as you go… Fields Of Fire Adventure Park has helped some people to conquer their fear of heights. Why not try it – you might surprise yourself.
Do I have to pay if I am not doing the courses?
No. You can follow underneath the courses for free. We love spectators, especially those that take great pictures and tag us when they post them to social media 🙂
What if I fall?
Don’t worry, that’s half the fun!
If you lose your footing while climbing, your safety line will prevent you from falling very far, only about 8 inches. You will be able to get back up and continue.
What should I wear?
No flip flops, sandals or open toed shoes.
Sneakers, tennis shoes or boots are perfect and will help with your footing on the course.
For your enjoyment and safety, we recommend loose and comfortable clothing. Check out the weather forecast for the day and dress accordingly.
While gloves aren’t a requirement, we would recommend them for a more comfortable experience! Bring your own or we loan out ‘gripper’ gloves, so you will be able to grip the rope as you go round the course.
When should I arrive?
Set your alarm clock! It’s important to arrive at least 20 minutes before your reservation time. We need to check you in and we also recommend using the bathroom before putting your harness on. If you are late, you will have to wait until the next available time slot. The best thing to do is leave in plenty of time.
How long does each course take to complete?
Generally, each course takes about 1/2 hour to complete.
But this may vary depending on the course, your level of confidence and the number of people in front of you on the course.
Do I need to book in advance?
We strongly recommend that you book in advance as we get very busy, especially during peak periods, such as weekends and school holidays.
We do allow walk ons but you may have to wait to be harnessed and begin climbing.
What happens during bad weather?
The New England weather likes to keep us on our toes. Luckily you can have just as much fun in light rain as you can in the sun. So we remain open during the light stuff. Heavy rains are no fun to climb in and even worse to rescue someone in, so we do close when it gets heavy. If we are forced to close due to bad weather, we will contact all reservation holders as soon as possible.
What is your refund policy?
We require 24 hours advance notice for a full refund. If the park closes due to weather we will refund or reschedule your reservation. You can choose to reschedule your reservation to a future date and time up until your scheduled start time.
Is it safe?
We teach you everything you need to know to be safe while climbing. The courses do contain some easy and some physically challenging obstacles so there is a risk of scrapes and bruises.
Can I just do the zip lines?
Unfortunately No, you must do the obstacles to get to the zip lines.
